Transcription and note taking rates
Published rates and a working estimate. You receive the scope, availability and final price in writing before any work begins.
Recorded transcription
| Turnaround | Per audio minute |
|---|---|
| Same day | £2.60 |
| Next working day | £2.20 |
| Within two working days | £1.90 |
| Within three working days | £1.70 |
Base rates assume clear audio, intelligent verbatim, and the standard format or a straightforward pre-arranged one. The minimum charge is £30. No VAT is currently charged.
Live note taking
| Attendance | Rate |
|---|---|
| Remote, across the UK | from £70/hour |
| In person, London and reasonable nearby locations | from £90/hour |
Two-hour minimum, then 30-minute steps. Preparation and finishing the notes are included at no extra time charge. A record checked against an authorised recording adds £1.00 per audio minute, and formal minutes are priced on request. For qualifying multi-day work elsewhere in the UK, you cover pre-approved travel and suitable single-occupancy accommodation, plus £250 for each separate day reserved principally for travel.
Adjustments
| Requirement | Charge |
|---|---|
| Full or strict verbatim, recorded or live-captured | +20% |
| Poor audio (severely compromised recordings are quoted separately) | +25% |
| Regular timecodes | +£0.20/min |
| Complex layout, where the format materially increases production time | +15% |
| Overnight (work you ask to be done between 20:00 and 07:00) or weekend recorded work, on the applicable per-minute charge | +40% |
| Live notes checked against an authorised recording afterwards | +£1.00/min |
| Four or more speakers | no uplift |
More than one adjustment can apply when separate requirements add work. Each percentage is worked out from the base charge and added, not compounded. Not sure which verbatim level you need? See intelligent, full and strict verbatim explained.
Working estimate
Choose your options; the slip works out the price from the published rates as you go.
A close estimate from the published rates for the options you choose. Accommodation, substantial travel (including longer journeys across London) or unusual requirements can add to it; any extras and the final price come to you before you book.
Turnaround
Working days exclude weekends and public holidays in England. Next-working-day and two- or three-working-day services start once you have sent usable material, complete instructions, any required payment and written confirmation to begin.
Your quotation gives the acceptance cut-off and the exact UK delivery date and time. Same-day work needs written agreement.
Billing and payment
Recorded duration rounds up to whole minutes, and the files in one assignment are added together before rounding unless your quotation says otherwise. Percentage additions apply to the base transcription charge; timecodes are added separately; the £30 minimum applies after additions. Live attendance has a two-hour minimum, with later time rounded up to the half hour.
A first live assignment normally needs a 50% booking payment, credited against the final invoice. The balance is normally due within seven calendar days of delivery unless you have approved account terms. Your quotation states any payment needed for a first recorded assignment.
